Plastic and its effects

More than 12 million tonnes of plastic waste ends up in our oceans every year. Almost half comes from ghost fishing nets and gear. Did you know that it takes more than a thousand years for the plastic from fishing gear to disintegrate?

But there is more. So-called 'microplastics' already pose one of the greatest threats. With 1.25 million fragments of microplastics per square kilometre, the Mediterranean is recognised as the most polluted sea in the world.

The effects of plastic on the ecosystem and marine life are devastating. Worldwide, more than 700 marine species are threatened by plastic waste.
Less plastic, more recycling
Humans have produced 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic since the 1950s, only 9% of which has been recycled! Energy Sistem is taking action and now presents the first range of audio products made from 100% recycled plastic , all with GRS certification.
