Why many recommend the Lite version of Facebook

Por qué muchos recomiendan la versión Lite de Facebook
As you may have seen on Google Play, when installing the Facebook app on your smartphone, you have two options: the regular version or the lite version. What are the differences between the two? For many, Facebook Lite has been the solution to its older sister app's battery and data usage issues. The social network's reduced app has been very well received by users around the world, as it offers an optimal alternative to having Facebook on your phone.
One of the aspects Facebook Lite improves is the amount of space the app takes up on your phone. While the regular version weighs 60MB (be careful if you download it on a slow connection), its smaller sibling weighs less than 2MB in total. This means downloading the Facebook Lite app takes just seconds.
Regarding internal memory usage, the Facebook app weighs 158MB on your smartphone. This can even increase to over 300MB when you register and start using the app on a daily basis. Meanwhile, the Lite version only takes up 4.56MB of memory. Even when you first start using it, it won't take up more than 6MB on your phone.
The reason Facebook takes up more space than its Lite version is because it includes many more features than its reduced version. However, for normal use of the app, the Lite version will suffice. Here are the features that Facebook Lite does include:

  • Timeline of your friends' statuses

  • Autoplay videos while connected to a Wi-Fi network

  • Notifications of interactions and new friend requests

  • Facebook Messenger integrated

  • Search tab

  • Pages managed from your profile

As you can see, the reduced Facebook Lite option will be great if you want to use the app normally without using up space and resources on your smartphone.
