If you're left wanting more Star Wars movies after episodes 7, 8, and 9, don't worry. Disney just announced three new films at its Star Wars Celebration that will debut in theaters in the coming years. And be careful, because they won't be a trilogy: they'll be set in three different eras that will cover the entire history of the saga, from the beginning of the Jedi to after the sequels. Specifically, one of these new films will be the continuation of the story of Rey, the protagonist of the last trilogy we saw in theaters.
Take note, because we're telling you everything we know about the new Star Wars movies.
Rey, Jedi Master 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker
After much speculation, and after some fans of the saga criticized the sequel trilogy, Disney has announced that one of the films in the works will tell the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley) after the events of Episode IX. It will be directed by James Mangold (director of 'Logan') and will tell of Rey's attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order some 15 years after Palpatine's final defeat in 'The Rise of Skywalker'. The little we know is that Rey will have already become a Jedi master, trying to bring the ancient order of protectors of the Galaxy back to life. Who the villain of this film will be, we don't yet know. But it will be very interesting to see how the story of the Emperor's granddaughter, the last Jedi left standing after Luke joined the Force, continues.
The Mandalorian spinoffs and the 'Filoniverse' will culminate in a film.
Fans of 'The Mandalorian,' 'The Book of Boba Fett,' the Star Wars animated series, and everything that has come to be known as the "Filoniverse"—named after its creator, Dave Filoni—rejoice. Disney announced at Celebration 2023 in London that all these plots will culminate in a film directed by Filoni himself, which will conclude the story of Din and Grogu, Ahsoka, and all the interconnected series. A bombshell that has blown up social media and has the entire fan community going wild. This film promises to culminate in a grand final battle between the defenders of the New Republic and Grand Admiral Thrawn, the true villain pulling the strings to resurrect the Empire. The idea is to follow the concept of Avengers: Endgame and conclude all these stories in a global climactic event. We can't wait to see it!
Dawn of the Jedi
The latest of the announced Star Wars films (which isn't necessarily the last to hit theaters) will be set in a key moment in the history of the Galaxy: the origins of the Jedi Order, some 26 millennia before the events of the original trilogy. A time that has been portrayed in comics and books, but which we've never seen in theaters. It will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) and will narrate the moment when Force users are divided between light and dark, with the birth of the Jedi Order and the first fully luminous Force user. It's an installment that its director has described as "a biblical epic."And if you want to catch up on the Star Wars movies before the new installments hit theaters, here 's a guide to the order in which you should watch the entire saga. Enjoy!
