Do you know the 10 phobias of smartphone addicts?

Artículo de blog

That we live glued to our mobile phones is nothing new.

How many WhatsApp messages do we send a day? How many times a day do we log on to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter on our smartphone? How many hours a day do we spend in front of that tiny 5-inch screen? Confess: What's the first thing you do when you wake up? And before you go to sleep? Maybe checking your phone?

Does the thought of leaving your phone at home terrify you, or does it overwhelm you that you won't be able to use it for a while?

If so, beware! You could be suffering from "nomophobia," which, of course, isn't a fear of gnomes, but rather a fear and anxiety about not being able to check your smartphone whenever you want. (The term "nomo" comes from the abbreviation for "no-mobile").

Pay attention to this surprising fact: 77% of smartphone owners suffer from nomophobia. And this is just one of the ten most common phobias among Spanish users.

Below, we detail the complete ranking of technological phobias. Pay attention, because the first four affect more than 40% of smartphone, tablet, and other mobile device users :

Whatsappitis: Excessive dependence on this instant messaging application , with a particular addiction to groups in which several people participate, writing all day long.

Selfitis: The addiction to the famous selfie has been officially recognized by scientists at the American Psychiatric Association as a mental disorder. Selfitis consists of a constant desire to photograph oneself and share photos on social media. Some warn that this is a symptom of low self-esteem or a feeling of existential emptiness .

Phubbing: Something we've all done at some point: not paying attention to others because we're staring at our phones . It's typical when you meet up with friends for a drink and everyone is more focused on their phones than talking to each other.

Editiovultaphobia: The fear of learning about other people's lives through Facebook and comparing it to your own. Who hasn't experienced comparing their lives to others?

Vibranxiety: It is the sensation or rather paranoia of having noticed the vibration of the phone , even though it has not done anything.

Selfiephobia: The opposite of selfieitis is the fear of taking a selfie . Some people believe they aren't very photogenic and therefore avoid selfies. Others see them as an absurd way to attract attention or as something superficial.

Retterophobia: This is the fear of misspelling a text message or WhatsApp message . These people check the content of the message several times before sending it. Once it's sent, there's no going back!

Telephonophobia: It is not the telephone itself that causes fear, but the act of answering a call .

Cyberchondria: This occurs when you turn your smartphone into a sort of online doctor and consult all your symptoms and illnesses on the Internet, without resorting to real medical professionals.

Do you suffer from any of these tech phobias? Are you glued to your smartphone or tablet day and night? Can't go more than five minutes without looking at it? If so, it's time to break away from your smartphone or tablet. Because technology is great and helps us in our daily lives... But it's no substitute for real life.

Don't forget that life is the best technology. #LifeIsTheBestTechnology

So, you know: Live and enjoy real life! ;)
